Aoca Game Lab is an game development company from Salvador, Brazil. Our creative vision blends the potentials of humanities and technologies.

History

Our History

Founded in 2016, Aoca Game Lab is a company from Salvador, Brazilian northeast.

Through games, we create IPs with historical and touching storytelling, suggesting new paths to the industry's thematic standards. Our main product is called ÁRIDA, a series of 3D adventure games that takes place in 19th-century Brazilian backlands.

We understand technology as a tool for transforming realities. That’s why we see the global reach of games as a strategy to present diverse narratives and identities, joining the fun with universally relevant themes.

We launched our first game in 2019, ÁRIDA: Backland's Awakening, a PC premium game that had its mobile versions launched in 2022 (Android and iOS). We are currently porting it to consoles and developing the continuation, ÁRIDA II: Rise of the Brave, to be released in Q4 - 2023.

ÁRIDA: Backland’s Awakening

ÁRIDA is a narrative-based game inspired by historical events.

We present the journey of Cícera, a 13-year-old girl who lives in a drought-stricken country town. Inspired by the historic village of Canudos, ÁRIDA has a hybrid potential: an entertainment game that is widely used in Brazilian schools.

Filled with quests, collectables, dialogues and crafting systems, ÁRIDA is a premium single player game that blends adventure and survival elements, focusing on players with an achiever and explorer profile.

We received prizes and nominations for more than 15 events. After finishing the development of ÁRIDA trilogy, we will create new IPs with this historical, cultural and diverse flavor.

Vision and Future

For reasons of cultural identification, ÁRIDA has Brazilian players as its main audience. However, by presenting global themes and having mechanics common to adventure games, it has huge potential for internationalization.

We have players on all continents, and after Brazil, our most significant markets are the United States, Germany, China, Russia, and France.

Our future vision is to become an internationally recognized company for bringing Brazilian popular culture to players worldwide, reaching other spaces such as licensing, animations and books.
